We arrived in the colonial city of Granada, former capital of Nicaragua, fairly late in the afternoon. Having no time to go out shopping we decided to go out for dinner. Very luckily for us there was a parade through the streets, only held 4 times a year. All the farms in the surrounding area bring their best horses to the city to show them off accompanied by a loud brass band. All the riders seemed extremely cheerful, a fact which was explained by the fact that part of the ceremony involved local restaurants giving them free beers - by this point they had been drinking around 8 hours!
