Day 312- Komodo, Indonesia

KOMODO DRAGON TRIP (09/11/09)

There have been focal points of the whole trip which we had planned, and looked forward to, since before we left. Angel Falls, the Galapagos and Machu Picchu are the kind of things we mean. For Adam visiting the Komodo region of Indonesia to see Komodo Dragons was one of these things. The trip involves getting a small plane from Bali to Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores before getting a boat to the Dragon-filled island of Rinca. We were due land in Labuan Bajo about 10am and then the boat was due to arrive at Rinca about 1pm in time for an afternoon trek. VERY frustratingly our flight ended up being over eight hours late which meant that we didn't set off on the boat until dusk, scuppering any chances of seeing the Dragons that day.

Elinor perfectly summing up the way we were all feeling at this point in time.

Just to top off our disaster of a day we were suddenly informed that the booking agent we had used had lied to us about having private cabins on the boat. We were on deck with only a tarpaulin separating us from the elements. If anyone else fancies visiting this region of the world it is amazing just don't use komodotours.com!
