Day 70 - Travelling, Costa Rica

TRAVELLING FROM SAN JOSE TO MONTEZUMA (12/03/09)

We left San Jose at 5am. After taking a taxi, a 3 hour bus journey, another taxi and then carrying all our luggage onto a boat we were pretty exhausted and it was only 9am.

The Gulf of Nicoya. It is always nice to get a view of the sea after being in a large city.

We were happy to be on the boat and off for a beach "holiday" for a few days.

The morning sun reflected hypnotically off the waves, or maybe we were just tired.

Off the boat and onto another bus for 2 hours. Everywhere on the Pacific coast is very dry, much of it has not seen rain for more than 3 months.

Finally we arrived at the small seaside town of Montezuma. After checking into our room and a refreshing swim in the pool we went for our first look at the Pacific at dusk.

Only nearly a month late we went out to celebrate Adam´s birthday (we couldn´t go at the time due to Liz being very ill). This is the best iced tea in the world.

Since we were celebrating we naturally ordered far more food than we could actually eat, including this large plate of nachos.

Adam still managed to eat almost everything.

Liz took this picture of herself.

We ended our day by sitting on our balcony looking at the bright full moon.
