QUITO (07/05/09)
Even us intrepid travellers need a day off occasionally. We decided to spend the day hanging around Quito drinking coffee. This is San Blas plaza near our hotel.
We spent a couple of hours watching the locals in the park whilst eating fresh yuka bread and ice cream (separately).
The centre piece of Plaza Grande is reminiscent of Nelson´s column. It even has lions at the bottom.
Apparently selling Polaroid pictures in the park used to be a good trade. This photographer looked rather dejected - all the foreigners now have digital cameras.
